Make A Splash: Water Parks Around Joburg

Document

Who says Joburgers need the beach to beat the summer heat? There are plenty of water parks around Joburg where you can splash, slide, and get that much-needed tan without leaving the city. Perfect for family fun, thrilling rides, and cooling off from the scorching temperatures. Don’t forget your sunblock!

Mzansi Theme Park

Previously known as the Happy Island Water World, Mzansi Theme Park in Muldersdrift is just the place to visit this summer. It’s the ideal spot to keep cool, have a blast, and reap all the benefits of a beach day without actually having to leave Gauteng.

There are plenty of rides and slides for visitors to try, but if you’re not one for an adrenaline rush, there are plenty of shaded areas for poolside chilling.

Crystal Sun Water Park

Crystal Sun is well worth the drive to Pretoria. The water park offers swimming pools to play and lounge around in, along with slides and plenty of space for the kids to have fun. If indoor activities sound more appealing, there’s also the Jump Zone: a colourful trampoline park where the whole family can bounce around, let out some giggles, and blow off some steam.

Wild Waters

Yes, Wild Waters is still there – why mess with a good thing? Featuring a variety of attractions, including raging rapids, a wave pool, super-tube slide, speed slide, and the frightening Kamikaze Slide, Wild Waters is a highly effective antidote to “Moooooom, I’m bored!”.

There are also jungle gyms, sandpits, braai areas, volleyball facilities, and even a putt-putt course, as well as an on-site tuck shop selling drinks and snacks.

Reopening for the summer season in October 2025!

Pines Resort

Pines Resort is another unsung hero when it comes to a water-based day out. Offering slides, swimming pools, a rope adventure course, playgrounds, and braai facilities, Pines has received many positive reviews that make it worth checking out.

The facilities are clean and well-maintained, and you can either pack your own picnic or buy toasted sandwiches and fries at the shop. Remember to pre-book at Webticket or Pick ‘n Pay, as no tickets are sold at the gate.

Grizzlies Water Park

Head to Pretoria this spring and enjoy swimming pools, slides, and relaxing trips down the lazy river at Grizzlies Water Park. There are dedicated areas for younger children, and activities that folks of any age will enjoy while keeping cool on a hot day.

To ensure everyone is fed and watered, there’s also a big restaurant on the premises for your convenience.

Prime View

Families, kids, and adventure-seekers alike gather to take on the one-of-a-kind obstacle course at Prime View Aqua Park. This exhilarating experience promises both physical and mental challenges while you enjoy a warm, sunny day outdoors.

There’s a diverse range of activities to participate in, including a wipe-out course and trails for both mountain bikes and runners, so this attraction is more than just a floating water park. You’ll have varied options for that post-adventure lunch, too, so escape the city and make some memories!

Grasslands Driving Range

Grasslands Driving Range in Benoni launched its water park last year, and it’s the perfect spot for a family outing. Get a much-needed dose of poolside fun in the sun and then visit the on-site restaurant for delicious meals and refreshing drinks. Don’t miss out on the splash-tastic fun! Please note that the park is suitable for ages up to 16.
