What Is It?
The 2019 UJ Weekend of Jazz is curated with the young and young-at-heart in mind. The programme nods to the ‘nostalgia’ of the jazz genre and the Auckland Park/Melville area. However, the weekend series of concerts does offer audiences new ways to experience the magic of the music.
With the UJ Arts & Culture theme #FollowYourHeART at the core of the programme, the weekend’s line-up, curated by the Jozi Unsigned, is set to offer something for all UJ Arts & Culture audiences – UJ staff, students and alumni, and of course, the Joburg public.
Here’s what you can expect over the four-day programme:
Thursday at 18:00 – Rhythm of the Bands Competition
Friday at 19:30 – Nomisupasta and The Brother Moves On in concert
Saturday at 19:00 – Gabi Motuba and Nduduzo Makhatini in concert
Sunday at 13:00 – Excerpts from the South African Song Book sung by Titi Luzipo and Spha Mdlalose
