Along Linden’s main strip hides one of India’s best-kept secrets. Bikaner is a family run restaurant that hits the spot when you crave spicy food. From paneer palak to some of the best garlic naan, it’s all under one roof at this gem of an Indian restaurant. And best of all, it’s not as expensive as you think it is. Everything on their menu is reasonably priced and oh-so-delicious.

Situated on 4th avenue in Melville, Satkar boasts a regular clientèle. Proof that the food is good! Do your taste buds a favour and swing by this restaurant on a Sunday. You’ll want to take advantage of their buffet on display. Tandoori chicken for the win.

From a pleasant conversation with the restaurant’s owner to some of the best mutton curry in Randburg, Lugz flaunts its stuff in the kitchen. To boot, it’s also a lunchtime hotspot. Half a bunny paired with a Castle draught sounds just right. Every. Single. Day.

The Raj

If you are an aficionado of Indian food, then The Raj in Nicolway should be on your list. From the papadums as a starter to the Gulab Jamun for dessert, it’s worth every penny.

Red Chilli Spice

This is where the spice is at. Red Chilli Spice in Craighall Park is deserving of your attention. One of their most popular dishes is the Tadka Dahl: lentils tempered with cumin seeds and garnished with fried chillies. Amazing!

Chilli Pickle

Chilli Pickle is one of the hot spots (pun intended) in the South of Joburg that one can easily have slip off their tongue. This joint has tasty food that will have you wanting more. Their lamb curry is a customer favourite.

If you want something from the North or South India, Spiceburg brings you the best of both worlds, you can explore a burst of flavour of what they have to offer. This secret heaven has some of the butter naans in Jozi.

Thava, as many call it; is one of the restaurant that will make sure you are satisfied and well fed. With roots from Karala, you can be certain that they bring the best traditional Indian food.
