What started out as a small food stall has evolved into one of the biggest trends in the vegan industry today. Offering a range of services, including a line of vegan restaurants, frozen convenience foods and restaurant partnerships, The Vegan Chef (TVC) has taken the plant-based world by storm.
Having popped up at vegan markets across Joburg, The Vegan Chef started gaining popularity with their tantalising food for the soul. Offerings included Fried Chickn, Sticky Wings, Vish Cakes and Beyond Meat Burgers. After their huge success in satisfying vegan cravings, it was time to find a permanent home, which they did - in Midrand, Benoni and Craighall.
Located at CoSpace in Midrand, this branch of TVC was the first. They provide delicious cruelty-free vegan comfort food and cater for functions. Popular menu items include the Sticky Chickn Wings, Southern Fried Chickn Pieces, Vacon, Vegan Doughnuts and Vegan Waffles on a Stick. If Midrand is too far a drive, you can order your vegan delights on Uber Eats and Mr Delivery, or you can stop by at one of their new branches in Craighall and Benoni.
The newly opened Craighall branch of The Vegan Chef is the home of vegan pizza in Joburg. With their own wood burning pizza oven, their menu has over 10 pizza options. Some choice options include the Margarita, 3 Cheeses, Tropical, The Beyond Pizza and BBQ Rib. If this isn't enough to sate your appetite, try one of their decadent cakes of the day. Filled with creamy lush icing, these sponges are a must-try!
For many years, vegans of the East Rand have been envious of their northern counterparts' close proximity to all things vegan. But no more, because there is now a vegan restaurant right in Benoni. TVC Benoni offers all the vegan indulgences you could ever want, from plant-based toasties, gourmet burgers and samoosas to hotdogs, wraps and all day bagels.
Apart from all their own eateries, The Vegan Chef has also partnered with other restaurants, bringing your favourite vegan comfort food to your doorstep. Impasto Pizza in Linden, The Fussy Vegan in Blairgowrie and Dimples Cafe in Woodmead are just some of the restaurants they have partnered with.
If having three restaurants, a food stand, a delivery service and partnering with other restaurants wasn't enough, TVC also produces a range of frozen products for you to make at home. Some products on offer are Chickn Fillets, Seasoned Chickn, Spiced Mince, Sticky Wings, Vacon, Vacon Bits, Vish and Vish Cakes. To view more information about these products, click here.
