If the kids haven't seen this just yet, then make sure you head to the People's Theatre for the fun, laughter-filled and rhyming Seussical The Musical Jr. Based on the much-loved Dr Seuss books, this production draws its characters from a number of books to bring you and the little ones a performance filled with non-stop music, laughter and feel-good fun. The Weekend Market always has something fun and exciting lined up for the kids! They have two awesome events coming up that you definitely don't want to miss if you are in search of something to keep the young ones entertained. First up is the Carnival Festival on 06 April 2019, which will give kids a day filled with super slides, carousel rides, jumping castles, gladiator and foam pits, rocket ride, swings and much more. And on 20 April 2019, don't miss the Easter Egg Hunt complete with awesome cash prizes up for grabs as well as plenty of kids entertainment.

The Dino Expo

Do your kids like all things dinosaur? If yes, then don't miss the Dino Expo which will be bringing a selection of dinos 'back to life' at the Sandton Dinosaur Exhibition. Other than that, there will be a bunch of fun activities to keep the kids busy, including a Jurassic Tour, dino fossil digging, a jumping castle, dino colouring, as well as a Wits University fossil display. There are also additional activities that come at an extra cost, including dino rides, dinosaur instant photos, bumper cars, electric train ride, pedal boats and Jurassic cars.

The Rand Show Just Got A Whole Lot More Exciting!

As the countdown begins for one of the country’s most iconic and family-oriented events of the year, the organisers have announced the introduction of a Gaming Entertainment Pavilion at the 2019 Rand Show! The Gaming Entertainment Pavilion will be hosted alongside numerous new lifestyle, retail and entertainment offerings, and promises a massively fun family day – or days – out.

The additions to this year’s 125th anniversary celebration edition have been designed to appeal to a generation of visitors that may never have experienced the show in all its glory.

Highlights of the Gaming Entertainment Pavilion!

A Fortnite Gaming Tournament with over R100 000 prize pool and other prizes is must! If you're keen in showing off your skills, register online on 25 February 2019. You can also enter the tournament at The Rand Show, but this will be on a first-come-first-served basis on the day. There's a 13-year-old age restriction to the tournament and any entrant under 16 will have to sign a parental guidance form and be accompanied by an adult.

There will be a Cosplay Masquerade running on the first weekend of the show. This is a more relaxed approach to cosplay that will encourage beginners to join in on the fun. Daily prizes will be awarded with cosplayers required to do a two-minute skit on stage. A traditional Cosplay Tournament over the final weekend will be judged in three categories:

Also, a Fortnite-inspired Dance Off Competition will be held with various daily prizes up for grabs. To enter, participants must upload a 15 second video clip of themselves performing their favourite Fortnite-inspired dance moves to the Rand Show Facebook or Instagram pages along with the hashtag #RSDanceOff and #randshow2019.

How Much Is Entry To The Rand Show?

R150 entry fee gives you entrance into The Rand Show (which gives you access to all the halls).

Entry into the Gaming Entertainment Pavilion will cost an additional R20 per person for a two-hour tour through an immersive environment of Gaming, Cosplay and Dance.

There are prizes up for grabs at the show, including a trip to TwitchCon USA and for early bird purchases, a Suzuki Swift!

The early bird online ticket purchase of R100 will give visitors both access into The Rand Show as well as the Gaming Entertainment Pavilion. So get your tickets early!

The Gaming Entertainment Pavilion will be open from 14:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 19:00 on weekends.

SA’S DIY Queen, Suzelle DIY, Will Be At The Rand Show!

Much-loved YouTube and TV star, Suzelle DIY, is joining the brand-new Rand Show 2020, and will be demonstrating a few of her fabulous, fun DIY techniques in her trademark ditzy style at #MyRandShow.

Suzelle’s hilarious – and useful – videos have made her a South African social media icon, with her tutorials being viewed and shared by thousands of South Africans. Her exclusive Rand Show 2020 appearance will include demos on:

SA Bakers’ Association Cake Competition Will Take The Cake

Rand Show 2020 honours South Africa’s proud culinary tradition as it hosts the delectable SA Bakers’ Association Cake Competition and the JacarandaFM Clash of Kitchens at the new-look Rand Show 2020 Foodie Zone. The Foodie Zone will be home to a feast of flavour discoveries, from craft beer and gin, to delicious farm-fresh fare at the Farmers’ Market.

The JacarandaFM Clash of Kitchens is a high-stakes reality cooking show that will see teams of two bring their fabulous foodie flair to life as they battle it out for their share of R150 000 in cash and prizes. Cosplay's Best At The World Cosplay Summit

The self-confessed geeks, gamers and pop culture junkies are in for something special, too, as NAG’s Play Zone 2 swoops in to create a haven of gaming, esports and cosplay, all at the Festival of Gaming #connected by Vodacom 4U, exclusively at Rand Show 2020.

Cosplay enthusiasts can look forward to seeing their favourite heroes from Japanese pop culture come to life at the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) South African Championship – an event that will entice the best cosplayers from around the country.

For the first time, SA’s best and brightest will be heading to Rand Show 2020 in teams of two, to show off their own skilfully made and intricately detailed costumes, and to deliver unique performance art pieces in the form of skits in full regalia as their favourite characters. The South African WCS winner will head to Japan to compete with over 40 countries in the WCS World Championship, where one team will be crowned the ultimate global WCS Champion.

Look forward to appearances from South Africa’s greatest cosplayers, who will be donning elaborate foam, latex, worbla and fabric creations, complete with capes, helmets, wings, wigs and more.

Kids to Release Their Inner Super Heroes with Marvel

Rand Show 2020 is an exciting reinvention for a new generation. The experiences that await every member of the family are set to spark new passions and stir brand new sensations. For kids aged 3 to 12 in particular, Play Zone 1 is an immersive world of wonder, with mesmerising activations to transfix the younger members of the family.

In a first for the Rand Show, kids up to the age of 12 will be able to participate in the Marvel Junior Super Hero Training Academy. The unique training academy experience is a Marvel-themed event that gives kids the opportunity to learn the signature moves of some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes in specially curated sessions.

All over the world, kids imagine becoming Marvel role models like Thor, Black Panther, Captain America, Black Widow and Spider-Man. At Rand Show 2020, imagination comes to life, allowing kids to train and earn their very own Marvel Junior Super Hero membership card.
