The Fussy Vegan in Blairgowrie is a favourite among vegans in Randburg. The eatery here offers a wide range of delicious vegan meals, treats and snacks. The menu features three wraps, the Breakfast Burrito, the Lunchtime Burrito and the Mac + Cheese Burrito. While all of these are worthy contenders for the best wraps in the city, we're suckers for the creamy and oh-so cheesy mac and cheese wrapped up in a chewy burrito.
Doppio Zero has become one of our favourite spots to grab a bite to eat, thanks to their many tasty vegan offerings. One such offering is the Nomad Wrap. This wrap is stuffed with beetroot pealafal fritters, hummus, salsa, cos lettuce, radish, tahini dressing, chickpeas, mangetout, carrot and cucumber. With several branches scattered across the city, there really is no reason not to stop by.
Lexi's Healthy Eatery is the place to be when you're craving a yummy wrap that's easy on the calories. Their menu offers five varieties of wraps, all satisfying in their own right. But if we had to choose just one, it would be the Pulled Mushroom with pulled oyster mushrooms in a smokey sauce, cashew cream African-style spinach, chilli and red cabbage. This can be served on your choice of a low-carb or gluten-free wrap. Or, switch things up and make a sandwich out of it.
Based in Greenside, the Greenside Cafe offers a healthy range of vegan meals that are good for you and the planet. And they are incredibly delicious too. The BLT Wrap is a must-try. Choose between a wholewheat, nori seaweed or gluten-free wrap filled with vegan bacon, tomato, lettuce, onion and cashew nut cream. Before you leave, make sure you have a slice of their famed Raw Maple Cheese Cake.
With branches in Bryanston and Kyalami, this eatery is your go-to for delicious and nutritious treats of all sorts. Their Hummus Raw Veggie Wrap consists of carrot and cucumber sticks, raw kale, avocado, sprouts, turmeric kraut, cocktail tomatoes, chopped rocket and basil and raw cashew nut hummus served on a beetroot and acai wrap. There's no better way to get your vitamin boost.
For the most colourful wraps around, head to the Wrap Shack. This food stall crafts a rainbow of wraps, infused with beetroot, spinach, sweet potato, sundried tomato and butternut. Not only do they look good, but they taste good too. You can purchase packs of these wraps or get them stuffed with falafel balls, rainbow slaw, pineapple salsa, avo slices and homemade cashew mayo. You can find the Wrap Shack at most vegan markets in the city.

Vegeata is a popular vegan food stall found at vegan markets across Joburg. They make giant gourmet doughnuts that will put popular franchises to shame. Favourite flavours include Saffron Vanilla Creme Brulee, Chocolate Ganache S'mores, Peanut Butter Caramel and the newest addition, the Ice Cream Sundae. But be warned, these huge doughnuts can be quite tricky to wrap your mouth around. Vegeata's doughnuts are available at The Fussy Vegan, both branches of Jackson's Real Food Market, Plant Powered Patisserie, Fruit & Roots and at various vegan markets.

The menu at this vegan restaurant in Bedfordview features a wide range of sweet treats, including Belgian Waffles, Gourmet Milkshakes, Chocolate Mousse and Traditional American Apple Pie. While all of these are sublime, we're suckers for the vegan Lemon Meringue. This deconstructed dessert features lemon cream, a sweet dough crumble and orange peel. This bright sweet treat is perfectly paired with a strong cup of tea or a spicy Red Cappuccino.

Tucked away behind a garage in Blairgowrie, this is a vegan haven. The Fussy Vegan serves up tasty vegan snacks and treats, toiletries and other items of convenience. But they make it onto this list because of their delectable vegan fare. Our favourite menu item is definitely the Rib Burger. Served on a sesame seed bun, with a crunch of colourful veg, this is a must-try! But those looking for something a little healthier can opt for one of the bowls, we recommend the Poke Bowl with crispy cashews, creamy avo, ginger, endamame beans and fresh mango, sprinkled with black sesame seeds.
The Greenside Cafe focuses on healthy and clean living in an effort to conserve the planet. They do this by offering healthy and cruelty-free meals that are still delicious and packed full of flavour. The menu features an array of delicious items, from breakfasts, wraps and pizzas to health burgers, desserts and pasta. Their vegan hot chocolate is reason enough to visit. Made with quality belgium chocolate, this Paris-style indulgence is well worth it. Pair this with a sublime pizza for the ultimate binge.
Vegans of Bedfordview have flocked to Kaylee’s Eatery since its opening not too long ago. And we don’t blame them. Serving all day breakfasts, hearty sandwiches and oh so sweet treats, this is a must visit for any vegan in the city. Being a lover of all things sweet, we can’t resist one of the fluffy Belgian waffles, topped off with a thick and creamy gourmet milkshake. If that wasn’t sweet enough, give the Lemon Meringue, Traditional Apple Pie or Chocolate Mousse a go! Not a fan of the sweet stuff? No worries! Kaylee makes a wide variety of yummy savoury options, from the world famed Beyond Meat Burger to healthy and filling Power Bowls.

Located in Birnam, Free Food* offers food that is free from meat, dairy, eggs, sugar, gluten, wheat and preservatives. Not only that, but they also don’t use microwaves, tin openers or fryers. This results in fresh whole food that is yummy and nutritious. We can’t resist the Free* Jacks, made with quinoa and rice flour layered with strawberry jam and chocolate, with a sprinkling of hazelnuts. But if you’re looking for something a little more hearty, go for the Red Lentil & Vegetable Curry. This delight consists of grilled mushrooms, cauliflower, green beans, baby tomatoes, sweet potato, butternut, kale, celery and potatoes, all cooked in a range of spices and served with fluffy jasmine rice - yum!
Hidden away behind lush greenery, Leafy Greens in Muldersdrift uses self-sustained, organic and home grown produce to provide tasty meals that are vegan, healthy and top quality. The menu offers a wide variety of vegan dishes for you to explore. But the top choice for any regular has got to be the buffet. This buffet is nothing like the flavourless, cold and overcooked buffets offered elsewhere. Instead, this table serves up freshly prepared food that is perfectly cooked each and every time. Don’t believe us? Then try it out for yourself.

Lexi’s healthy eatery, located in Sandton, Rosebank and Modderfontein, is not an entirely vegan restaurant. Although the vast majority of menu items are plant based, they do cater to meat eaters too. This makes Lexi’s a top choice for diners of different dietary requirements. We love their wide offerings of breakfast choices, our favourite being the Sexy Spinach Scramble. Tofu is scrambled with spinach, kale and parsley and served with roasted tomatoes, fresh avocado and crispy rye toast. But for a fancy dinner affair, nothing beats the Slow Roasted Cauliflower Steak or the Black Rice Porcini Mushroom Risotto.

This Italian eatery has their own vegan menu which includes pizza, desserts and pasta. Their house made spaghetti is made without egg, making it perfectly vegan. You can dress this pasta with the Loula; tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes, basil and garlic. Or you can choose to build your own pasta, selecting from a choice of ingredients such as caramelised onions, roasted peppers, olives, artichokes, mushrooms and aubergines, all rounded off with Napoli Sauce. We wouldn't say no to Rosemary Focaccia, with roasted pepper and olive spaghetti in a tangy and sweet tomato sauce, finished off with Mixed Berry Sorbet.
Doppio Zero has become the coffee shop of choice for vegans across Joburg. This is simply because of their wide range of vegan choices that are amazingly delicious. One such choice is the Vegano Fettuccine, luscious strands of fettuccine lightly tossed with mushrooms, baby marrows, red onion, coconut milk, garlic, chilli and spicy chimichurri. This is beautifully complemented with a Cappuccino Vero, an Italian styled cappuccino, perfectly rich and bitter after a warm and hearty meal.
Col'cacchio is an Italian restaurant that has become a go-to for vegans craving Italian fare in recent years. This is because they offer delicious vegan salads, pizzas and pastas. They have two vegan pasta options on their menu, these are the Pomodoro, a simple basil and tomato pasta. But often, simple is best. The other vegan option is the sought-after Spaghetti and Vegballs, vegan 'meatballs' with the Pomodoro sauce and vegan Parmesan.
This eatery is a hidden gem tucked away behind a fuel station in Blairgowrie. They have become the popular choice for their amazing freshly prepared food, pre-packed food and vegan snacks. We love going there just for a bottle of Almond Creamery and a loaded smores doughnut. But if you're in the mood for something a little more filling and much more hearty, they make some of the best Mac and Cheese, wheat pasta in cashew cheese sauce with seitan bacon bits. And better yet, they serve this in a burrito. That's right, a macaroni and cheese burrito. Can you think of anything more glutenous yet completely worth it? We can't.
Free Food is a vegan restaurant and supplier based in Melrose. They offer two vegan pasta choices. These two options consist of the Free Ball Tomato Pasta, vermicelli and 'meat balls' in a tomato, onion and thyme sauce with kalamata olives and almonds loaded on fresh greens. There is also the Pesto Pasta, vermicelli with mushrooms, tomatoes and kalamata olives brought together with basil pesto, also with fresh greens and chopped almonds. We love the fresh and healthy take on pasta at this eatery.
Greenside Cafe focuses on healthy, green eating. Green as in environmentally-friendly, not broccoli. This restaurant has the widest range of vegan pasta of all the places on this list. Their pasta choices include spaghetti, chewy tofu ribbons and gluten free. These pastas can be paired with Bolognaise, Vegan Pesto, Italian and Algerian sauces. No matter your choice, we recommend rounding off your meal with a slice of the Raw Maple Cheesecake.
