Take a trip to Pretoria for the delicious Appetite Fest! This foodie haven promises to give you your money's worth. So whether you're a foodie, home cook, chef or culinary guru, head to Time Square’s Sun Arena and outdoor area, which will be transformed into a playground of interactive food stalls, tasting tables, themed hospitality areas and culinary theatres.
This year’s three-day foodie extravaganza promises to be even bigger and better than the inaugural festival last year, with an extra day added to give visitors more time to explore and treat their taste buds. You can also expect more gastronomical experiences and spectacular entertainment lined up.
The culinary artists already confirmed for Appetite Fest 2019 are Gary Mehigan; George Calombaris; Matt Preston and Shannon Bennett of MasterChef Australia. And joining them for this year’s tour to South Africa is the winner of MasterChef Australia 2018, Sashi Cheliah.
This year, Appetite Fest has cooked up an array of brand-new experiences. Among these experiences are the Cooking With workshops, where food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to cook alongside some of South Africa’s celebrity chefs. MasterChef Australia’s charismatic judges will also be hosting Master Classes, giving fans the chance to meet their favourite Aussies and watch them in action in the intimate setting.
Appetite Fest is an exciting platform to explore the tastes, flavours, sights and sounds that make living in South Africa great. The Sun Arena and outdoor areas will also be transformed into a foodie fairground of inspired cuisine, drinks and entertainment experiences.
In the Sun Arena, a wide range of exhibitors will showcase a wide variety of craft brewers and distillers, artisan food producers, premium drink brands and award-winning wineries, offering a bounty of the country’s finest foods and drinks to test-taste and purchase.
Also watch international and local celebrity chefs show-off their culinary prowess in various food theatres and get the opportunity to ask all your pressing foodie questions at the Q&A sessions.
Outside, gourmet food trucks will serve up a diversity of exciting street food, while a hot lineup of comedians, DJs and bands will keep you entertained in vibrant, authentically South African festival-style.
There will also be themed zones for ladies, guys and kids. For the ladies, think craft gin and sushi. For the guys, there'll be bikes and beer. The little ones will be safe and entertained in the access controlled, secure Kids Zone with professional and caring child minders. Kiddies activities include jumping castles, go-karting, jungle gyms, a ball pit, face painting, a children’s cooking theatre, coordination games and their very own kid’s food court! For the older crowd, there is the Magic Company.
