What Is It?

The Festival Of Ales – Beer, Wine, Cider and Medieval Festival is back in 2019. In association with Indigo Burn, the Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom will be giving guests a real feel for medieval times. Guests are encouraged to dress the part, which includes anything medieval, from Game of Thrones to knights, kings and queens. And if you have nothing to wear, don't fret, as there will be costumes for hire at the venue. Get there early, because costumes are limited. This year’s festival is sure to bring more dramatic knight battles, delicious craft beer, wine, gin and a Medieval Market. Buy yourself a drinking horn, or get your own blade forged on the day. Book now, as tickets are limited!

What Is It?

Make sure you don't miss out on Joburg's third annual Viking Fayre! Not only will you have loads of fun, but you'll also be helping Berserkers raid the shores of Europe in 2020! The South African fighters (seen at Medieval Fayre's Fight-a-Knight) want to fight on the international Full Contact Medieval Combat stage in 2020. And to help them cover their travel and board, 100% of funds raised at this event will go towards getting them overseas to take on the best fighters the world has to offer.

Viking

Now onto the good stuff - what will be happening at this event. Here, you can expect everything from the Viking Games, which includes archery, wrestling, stone throwing, toga-honk (tug-of-war), Kubb (Viking chess), obstacle courses and swordplay. To keep you fed and quenched, there will be plenty to eat and drink and keep you merry. There will be feasting, mead and ale in the Mead Hall. Other fun highlights include the chance to test your wits at the Mead Hall Quiz, creating your own Viking personas and entering the Viking Vestment Contest. Don't forget to enter the Viking Quest. There's load of fun for everyone.

What Is It?

Join the Magical Medieval Fayre for a day filled with a little mystery, a little madness and a lot of magic. All minstrels, strolling players, stilt walkers, fairies, fire dancers, magical creatures and all manner of buskers and barons, knights, dragons, unicorns, fair maidens and their steeds are all invited to join in on the celebrations and to be merry! Guests can expect plenty of mead and ale, unicorn rides, as well as food, dancers and a variety of stalls selling a range of merchandise. And by night, the sprites and fire dancers will keep you entertained.

What Is It?

Unicorns, dragons and all magical beasts, feast at the annual Fantasy Fayre! This is an event where you can let loose, dress up and treat your inner nerd to all things fantasy. Your only limit is your imagination. There will be fantastic prizes up for grabs in the Adult and Kids fancy dress categories. Also, get 15% discount at Sinderella Costume Hire in Randburg when you hire a costume for this event! And if you'd like to gloat and show off how much you know your fantasy stuff, grab a team and join the Fantasy Quiz!

Expect fantasy-themed market stalls and merriment on the day: play a Game of Kubb (Viking Chess), have a go at archery or sample Eoin's Tankard mead while you watch weapons forging; or try your hand at the Axe Toss! Wander through the market to the sounds of the bards and the clash of steel on steel as the JuggerKnights spar. Handmade jewellery, dragons, ceramics, art, clothing, craft beer and delicious food and more are on sale at the stalls.

This year, they'll once again be proudly supporting HuskyRomi Wolf Sanctuary - expect to learn about their gorgeous wolves!

What Is It?

Market goers can expect themed stalls and merriment at the Mini Medieval Market. Plus, there will be plenty of entertainment available, including Fight A Knight with Battle Heritage SA, Game of Kings, Werewolf After Dark with Geekxp, and archery with The Troll Bow Project.
You can also get yourself caricatured as a knight or knave by Live Cartoon Portraits, or take a stroll through the stalls filled with jewellery, dragons, ceramics, and clothing.
