Seussical The Musical Jr.

If the kids haven't seen this just yet, then make sure you head to the People's Theatre for the fun, laughter-filled and rhyming Seussical The Musical Jr. Based on the much-loved Dr Seuss books, this production draws its characters from a number of books to bring you and the little ones a performance filled with non-stop music, laughter and feel-good fun. The show ends late April 2019, so make sure you get your tickets ASAP.

This event is an absolute must during April! The family-friendly, thrilling and oh-so-cool Rand Show is back for their 2019 edition. This year, they will be celebrating 125 years of Rand Show excitement and to celebrate, they will be going all out with the entertainment. The Weekend Market

The Weekend Market always has something fun and exciting lined up for the kids! They have two awesome events coming up that you definitely don't want to miss if you are in search of something to keep the young ones entertained. First up is the Carnival Festival on 06 April 2019, which will give kids a day filled with super slides, carousel rides, jumping castles, gladiator and foam pits, rocket ride, swings and much more. And on 20 April 2019, don't miss the Easter Egg Hunt complete with awesome cash prizes up for grabs as well as plenty of kids entertainment.

The Dino Expo

Do your kids like all things dinosaur? If yes, then don't miss the Dino Expo which will be bringing a selection of dinos 'back to life' at the Sandton Dinosaur Exhibition. Other than that, there will be a bunch of fun activities to keep the kids busy, including a Jurassic Tour, dino fossil digging, a jumping castle, dino colouring, as well as a Wits University fossil display. There are also additional activities that come at an extra cost, including dino rides, dinosaur instant photos, bumper cars, electric train ride, pedal boats and Jurassic cars.

This festival promises to be a celebration of exceptional food, music and fun. Lusito Land is the ultimate nine-day cultural experience, perfect if you're looking to enjoy a day out and about with the whole family. There's entertainment for all ages, from Portuguese folk dancing and top local artists to mouth-watering food, all celebrated at leisure under an African sky.

The easy-to-access venue is a superb, safe and central location with loads of secure parking, clean facilities and a family friendly fun fair to keep the ‘crianças’ busy. This event is hosted by the Lusito Association, a non-profit organisation, for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped. Over the last 37 years, it has evolved into a festival celebrated by the many cultures that make up Johannesburg and Gauteng. The Portuguese tradition has however been sustained in the wonderful traditional flavours of the fine cuisine that is an important facet in the Portuguese heritage.

For your musical entertainment, festival goers will be enthralled with this year’s lineup of live acts, which covers a wide range of genres and artists.

This year, there will also be an awesome ’80s rock show celebrating and paying tribute to the best alternative rock bands of the decade! The Hey Now, HEY NOW NOW band will take to the Lusito Land stage on Saturday, 20 April 2019 for a two-hour show jam-packed with ’80s alternative music, taking you on a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane.

There’s plenty of other thrilling entertainment in store for all ages! The family can enjoy a two-hour show featuring South Africa’s top 10 wrestlers in an international-standard wrestling ring.  The little ones can also be part of the wrestling fun by safely showing off their smackdown skills under the watchful eye of a ring master. An autograph session plus photos with the wrestlers will be available after the show.

And of course, Lusito Land is not Lusito Land without their thrilling and exciting funfair! The fairground will be jam-packed with all sorts of exhilarating rides perfect for all ages. Make sure you get your ride tickets at the funfair ticket office before heading off to the queues.

And this year, there will be something for the animal loving guests. The Joy Dogs will be at Lusito Land, where festival goers can meet talented canines and be entertained while they show off some of their tricks.

The Lusito Land Festival goes beyond having the best musical acts or giving visitors an authentic taste of Portuguese food and culture. It is an event that aims to raise awareness about differently abled people and make these people more visible to society at large. In true spirit of the cause there will be a fun 5km walk for the disabled on Sunday, 28 April 2019 from 08:00 with an entry fee of R150 per person, that also covers your entrance into the festival.
