All aboard! The Reefsteamers Heidelberg Wanderer is headed on a 48 km journey this September, and you're invited. Join them for the Heidelberg Great Train Race event taking place at the Heidelberg Heritage Museum. Reefsteamers century-old steam train "Susan" will be your escort for the day. She may be a little slow on the incline, but she'll get you there in one piece guaranteed. So, sit back and relax as you slowly make your way out of the city.

The Heidelberg Great Train Race features an impressive collection of vintage cars, motorcycles and aircraft. Join "Susan" and her fleet, as they salute a historical moment that took place in France in 1930 - a Bentley Sportsman Coupe beat France’s famous blue train in a 750 mile race! This great spectacle is definitely one you won't want to miss. Bring the kids along for a fun day out. Pack a picnic, or book a specialty picnic basket made by the Reefsteamers team.  Their food truck on Rails also offers tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cool drinks, still water, chips, sweets, chocolates, home made cupcakes and the famous Galaxy Fudge.

Don't forget to take home a token from your day out. The Reefsteamers memorabilia table has t-shirts, books, DVD's, postcards and other goodies for you to remember your day forever. See you there!

The Classic Car Show has achieved such important status amongst street-machine builders that many muscle-car owners use the event to debut their latest 'rides'. This is a trend that follows the big North American shows like Sema, where custom-car builders work feverishly to ensure that their latest machines make their public debut to a huge audience. If recent trends are an indicator of what to expect at Nasrec on 11 November, enthusiasts can look forward to some creative interpretations of the muscle-car and street-cruiser themes in the special areas demarcated by Hall 5 at the Nasrec complex. Builders of exotic Nissan GT-Rs and BMW street racers have also targeted The Classic Car Show as one of their must-do events, so expect to see plenty of modern collectable supercars rubbing fenders with the likes of ’55 Chevys and ’65 Mustangs.

Classic Car Christmas

And talking of more modern collectables, a special display of modern Performance Fords has been organised for this year’s summer show, with hot renditions of Ford Fiesta, Focus and Mustangs displayed in a special area. The year-end period of 2018 will also commemorate the debut in America, 60 years ago, of the cars with the biggest tail fins of all time. These included the amazing ’59 Cadillacs, which boasted the highest tail fins ever in America, and the ’59 Chevrolet Impala and Biscayne models, which had tail fins with the widest sweep, as they were mounted more in a horizontal than a vertical plane.

These tail fins from the Chevrolet stable came as a bit of shock to the public after the 1959 models virtually had no tail fins at all. But all American cars of this period were laden with chrome, and this will be a feature of many of the Yankee classics that will grace the main display area at Nasrec on Sunday, 11 November.

Apart from the cars, families can look forward to the following entertainment:

And as at previous Classic Car Shows, the Prawn Festival provide culinary enticements for those who are not merely feasting on the visual automotive delights.

Classic Car Christmas

Opening time at Nasrec is 07:00 for exhibitors. Owners of classic cars will be granted free admission, as will one passenger per car. Classic car owners are advised to get their cars into the display areas as early as possible on Sunday. Gates for spectators open at 08:00 and they will be provided with ample parking for only R20 with access to the show via the gates on the south side of the expo centre, close to Nasrec Road.

Admission prices are R60 per adult and R20 for children under 12 if booked via Computicket. Entry prices at the gate on 11 November are R80 for adults and R20 for children under 12.
