Natural Over-The-Counter Products For Long Lasting Results

It’s really embarrassing when someone hints at bad breath by offering you a mint or some gum. There’s little you can do in that moment but swallow the mint along with your pride. The truth of the matter is, halitosis (chronic bad breath) is a medical condition that doesn’t discriminate. Everyone and anyone can develop bad breath. And if it's left untreated, this condition can cause plenty of paranoia and anxiety. It can also be an indicator of a more serious underlying health concern. When you think that over 600 species of micro-organisms can live in your mouth – it’s not surprising that anyone can develop bad breath from time to time.

But What Actually Causes It?

As much as 85% to 90% of bad breath is caused by oral factors (in the mouth). This includes tooth decay, bacteria in the mouth, as well as certain medications (anti-depressants, narcotics, antihistamines). Also, foods like onion, garlic, coffee and alcohol, as well as cigarettes contribute towards that dreaded bad breath. And believe it or not, but ovulation, menstruation, pregnancy and menopause are non-oral causes of horrible breath, while some serious illnesses like kidney failure, diabetes, cancer, bronchial and lung infections are indicators for bad breath. There's no avoiding it, it does happen to most of us... so the question is, how do we fix it?

Nova Breath To The Rescue

Drinking plenty of water is known to help combat bad breath, but sadly it’s not always enough. The good news is with the launch of Nova Breath – a new medically tested solution to help prevent and treat bad breath – you don’t need to leave those around you breathless for all the wrong reasons.

Their OTC range has an oral product for every preference, whether you like to use a mouthwash, spritz a little mouth spray, suck on lozenges or brush those pearly whites with toothpaste. The ingredients – each with a different function – work together to reduce those wonky odours. The unique clinically tested formulation is enriched with components that keep the ingredients in your mouth to ensure it produces the required change. More than that, it outlasts mints and ensures a fresh breath for up to eight hours.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner - make sure you can kiss with confidence. There’s nothing worse than your partner recoiling as you pucker up.

Stay Away From That Wine!

If wine is basically your life (come on, you can own up), this might seem impossible. Having a glass of wine (or two) in the evening may seem like a good idea as it helps you drift off into sleep, however, research has shown that drinking wine, or alcohol in general actually disrupts your sleep further on in the night. This disruption could be anything from waking up to a visit to the bathroom during the night or sleeping lightly, which doesn’t allow your body to fully recharge, which means you’ll wake up feeling sluggish. So, take our advice if you’ve got an early morning ahead!

Keep A Window Open

This is easier to do in summer because it’s often too hot to sleep with all windows closed anyway, however, even in winter, make sure your room is well-ventilated, allowing fresh air in during the night. The build-up of carbon dioxide and moisture in a room without ventilation is likely to get uncomfortable and potentially break up your sleep, meaning you’re probably going to wake up feeling grumpy - and we don’t want that, do we?

Stay Hydrated

We have all heard it countless times - to drink water, that is! Sure, it all becomes tedious but perhaps the tediousness should be derived from the action of drinking water and not the command of it. It may not seem essential to drink as much water as recommended (two to three liters a day) but it’s a key tip when it comes to waking up feeling ready to tackle the day. Try drinking a warm glass of lemon water before bed - this helps relax your body. To feel extra refreshed in the morning, drink a cool glass of lemon water and you’re good to go.

Be Active

It helps to plan out the following day just before bed. Whether you physically plan out your outfit and pack your lunch for convenience in the morning, or just mentally lay out a skeleton of your to-do list, this all motivates your brain and body to rest up and recharge for the next day. Once up, before hitting the gym if you are a morning gym person, you should still do a few stretches and jumping jacks to increase blood-flow and get oxygen to your brain. This wakes you up and simultaneously releases happy hormones that make you feel good.

De-Clutter And Tidy Up

It’s important to de-clutter your room and create a ‘rested’ welcoming place. You have probably already noticed that, when your bedroom is neat and tidy, you wake up feeling more rested and refreshed as opposed to when your room is a mess. A messy room could reflect on your subconscious mind, so clearing it out and allowing the flow of energy to transcend is likely to help you sleep better and wake up feeling great. In any case, what are the chances of waking up feeling refreshed in a cluttered room? Keep it tidy, wake up refreshed. Simple as that!

What is a party bus?

Party buses come in all shapes and sizes. Some are colourful and ideal for a booze cruise out in the country. Others are more bling, blacked-out and resemble something from a music video. There are many reasons to hire one of these beauties – from a rugby game pick-up and drop-off service, to bachelor’s parties and birthdays. Anyone can think of a reason to party on a bus with friends. Below are a few services that you may want to consider when hiring a party bus.

Don’t be fooled by the name, Partyboat hires out buses as well as boats on at Hartebeespoort Dam (a good idea if you want something more tranquil). Partyboat offers two different services to meet your needs. The first is a truck which is converted to offer the ultimate party experience, with top-class trimmings, a bar and luxurious interior. This is the bus you want to hire if you are organising a big-budget corporate cruise. They call this the ‘Horse and Trailer’. This option will set you back R9,500 for an eight-hour cruise within the JHB/Pretoria area.

Another option from Partyboat is a ‘Booze Cruiser’ they call the ‘Purple Party Bus’. This beast can hold 60 people per trip and is a basic, more rugged service particularly designed with one thing in mind – Party! The Double Decker will cost you R11,500 for an eight-hour cruise. While, it costs more than the luxury cruise, it holds double the amount of people. Please note that the Double Decker doesn’t feature a fully stocked cash bar like the ‘Horse and Trailer’ does, you have to bring your own cooler boxes. But, then again, this does help make the trip come in under budget.
