They offer an 8 week, 3 hours per week, course which will show you how to design and make your own clothes to fit your body. An absolute must for those wanting to save money, be creative and still be fashionable.

The first lesson of the basic course is a free, no-obligation, taste of what Sew Flattering has to offer.

Their courses cover garment design, fitting and sewing for all shapes and sizes. You will learn basic pattern design that will allow you to produce any style of garment. This method of design requires no drawing skills.

Booking is essential for the morning, afternoon and Saturday courses.

Create a basic wardrobe over 8 weeks – 1 lesson per week

Week 1 – Skirt
Free .. no-obligation “Try before you buy” .. you can decide whether Sew Flattering has something of value to offer before paying for the course. Email or fax proof of payment of R1,200.00 for the full course after the lesson

Design a basic skirt to fit and flatter your figure, from petite to plus sized.

Week 2 – Skirt continued
How to use household items to create a sewing block for your figure and compare it to a commercial pattern.

How to take your measurements and compare to a commercial pattern.
How to change the basic pattern to make different garments.

Week 3 – T-shirt or Cardi-wrap
Using the sewing block from week 2 and a commercial pattern, create a
T-shirt or Cardi-wrap that compliments your body type using a knitted/stretch fabric.

Week 4 – Dress or Blouse
Adjust the sewing block to create a wrap dress or a wrap blouse.
Compare your personal sewing block to a commercial pattern.

Week 5 – Jacket
An unlined jacket using the sewing block. How and where to add ease. How to create a facing and use interfacing. Discuss different lining techniques.

Week 6 – Trousers
Trousers, slacks, shorts, pants – How to take the correct measurements, how to adjust for the perfect fit for all sizes.

Week 7 – Trousers continued
Trousers, slax, shorts, pants – Check the adjustments on the trousers made since week 6. Discuss and demonstrate various waistbands.

Week 8 – Lingerie
Camisole and French Knickers
