Where To Get Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle’s Royal Tour Local Looks

With the Royal South African Tour in full swing, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has been blessing us with ready to wear local fashion. Here’s where you can get your fashion fix, inspired by the Smart Wear founder!

Dalitso Maxi Wrap Dress, Malawi

On the arrival of their first engagement in South Africa, the Duchess’ first look was a statement animal print dress by a fashion brand from Malawi, Mayamiko. The fashion brand is known for its ethical and sustainable stance in fashion, a cause that is not new to the Duchess and Duke – who are activists for environmental and conservation issues.

She paired the Dalitso Maxi Wrap Dress, which is now sold out, with a pair of black lace-up espadrilles by Castañer.

Pichulik Magi Earrings, South Africa

The Sussex royal paired a chic navy dress with Pichulik Magi earrings. Pichulik is one of South Africa’s most bespoke jewellery stores. It centers itself in the celebration of Africa, and sees ornamentation as a ‘sacred conduit for healing, community and wisdom’.

According to the site, the symbolism behind the handcrafted custom brass earrings worn by the Duchess comes from the word ‘magi’, which means magic.

“The Magi earring is dusted in gold and beads and arched like a rising sun. Magi is the origin of the word magic, and was used to describe people of great sacred knowing. The alchemy of your own transformation is your medicine and magic.”

The custom brass studs weigh 2 grams each, and are 45 mm in length. They are adorned with titanium pins and braid rope embellished with gold, copper and black beads and gilt-plated end caps.

Tshepo Jeans, South Africa

The Smart Works founder made a visit to Victoria Yards, which celebrates the power of community, bringing local artisans and “makers” together to rebuild, support and learn from each other on a holistic level.

The Duchess had the chance to connect with the children and founders of the phenomenal programme for kids’ development, Timbuktu in The Valley.

She was also struck by the local denim designer who founded eponymous brand, Tshepo, who shared this about the logo for his line; “The crown on my jeans represents the three ladies who raised me. Enjoy wearing this crown.”
