Ono In My Belly
Eat. Fresh. Fast.
Inspired by the tropical islands and it’s colourful personality, Ono Eatery bursts with character.
Their food bowls are packed with flavour. We tried out their Berry Smoothie Bowl – this has berry, banana, berry protein, oats and almond milk, all creatively garnished with sliced apple and inspired with mint and honey.
You have to try this! When we talk about fueling, this is exactly it. It leaves a very ironically fresh taste in your mouth. It’s okay to bend the rules, like having it for dessert, it’s just too yummy not to. We were borderline licking the leftover deliciousness off the bowl.
What is breakfast without lunch? We couldn’t just leave without having a great lunch. As spoiled for choice as we were, we had to make some tough (nice life problem) decisions because their menu is very generous. Not only is it full of variety, but you also have the option to make your own Poké.
We couldn’t eat everything on the menu, so we opted for two flavourful pokés. First up is the Green Bowl, which has stripped beans, corn, cucumber salsa, chickpeas/tofu and slaw hugged by a filling base. This bowl is balanced out with scrumptious textures that bring the whole dish together.
We also wanted something with meat, very typical South African of us, but we had to. And boy, was it worth it. We took a good dig into the Tiger Bowl, filled with perfectly seasoned prawns, cucumber, slaw, base and coriander mint chilli salsa. The salsa is packed with flavour and has a bite to it that compliments the dish well.
Sip on Freshness
A great drink is always a great way to round off a delicious meal. We tried one of Ono’s pressed juices, The Regenerator. It leaves you with a fresh taste in your mouth. This is a mix of celery, apple and cucumber. It doesn’t get fresher than this.
Look & Feel
Ono is situated in one of the most urban mixed-use precincts in the city, Melrose Arch. You can find them tucked away on High Street.
But you won’t miss it, as their fresh look is very inviting with the touches of tropical with a modern twist is quite eye catching. They have a stylish outside seating with cushions and plants, that’ll have you feeling like you’re in a little tropical bar in Hawaii.
Side note: This is also a great place to take a snap for that Instagram-worthy post.
Lastly, nothing is more saddening than not being able to enjoy your favourite restaurant meals in the comfort of your own home. But luckily, with Ono Eatery, you get the options to Order In and to order through UberEats. There is no excuse to deprive yourself from all the fresh Ono goodness.
