Introducing the new world-class Nike Shapa Soweto Training Centre in the heart of Soweto. This is the home “for a next generation of athletes”

Nike Shapa Soweto was build in 2010 to nurture young soccer players in South Afriça's most famous township.

It relaunched in November 2021, and the updated Nike Shapa Soweto Traning Centre now also includes dedicated spaces for basketball, running, training, dance, judo and skateboarding.

It's a safe and secure environment that is built to cultivate the next generation of athletes from local communities. The training centre is open to people of all ages and accessed with a free membership.

Nike collaborated with Johannesburg’s contemporary design studio, Futura, to design the spaces at the training centre. The community basketball court, the football players' tunnel and the spaces around Shapa features designs by Gustav Greffrath’s Futura studio.
