The Nebula Micro Theatre Presents Gounod's Faust

What Is It?

The Nebula Micro Theatre is the home of The Royal Opera and Ballet cinema in Ekurhuleni. This June they will be screening The Royal Opera's production of Gounod's, Faust. This opera in five acts explores the decadent elegance and debauchery of 1870's Paris.

There are many versions of the story of Faust, who trades his soul with the Devil for youth and power. However, Gounod’s opera remains one of the most enthralling renditions of this tragic tale. Michael Fabiano stars as Faust, with Diana Damrau as his beloved Marguerite and Erwin Schrott as the diabolical Méphistophélès. The production features a stellar cast with a large chorus and sensational sets, ballet and an ecstatic finale. All of these elements make this production of Faust the epitome of theatrical spectacle. Overall, the lavish scale of French grand opera is wonderfully evident in this production directed by David McVicar.

Above all, the music includes several of the popular opera’s most recognizable numbers, performed by a cast of great international singers and the Royal Opera Chorus. If you have always wanted to experience European opera at its finest, get your tickets as soon as possible!
