Mugg & Bean have been in the business of bottomless coffee, giant muffins and home-style classics since 1996. This coffee-shop-come-bistro is a firm family favourite. They also pride themselves on giving old friends the space and time to chat for hours. To keep this ‘spirit of generosity’ going during the upcoming chilly months, Mugg & Bean have revamped their menu. Here’s what’s new:
Mugg & Bean are known for their wholesome breakfasts. But, they also know the importance of healthy living and good nutrition. Staying on the wagon during winter can feel near impossible. To help you steer clear of temptation, Mugg & Bean have introduced the Country-style low carb breakfast. It features two eggs, back bacon, pork sausage, fresh baby spinach, grilled mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, sliced avo* and cauliflower hashbrowns instead of toast. You get all this for only *R89.90.
Another new edition to the breakfast menu is The Big Grill. This whopper of a breakfast includes a BBQ grilled 250g rump steak, a fried egg, back bacon and M&B rosemary-salted fries for *R139.90. What more could you ask for on a cold winter’s morning?
A quick lunch at Mugg & Bean on a busy day just got even better. Their sandwiches have always taken centre stage on the menu. Filled with the freshest ingredients and innovative pairings, their toasties, panino’s and fresh wraps are a delight. New on this sandwich buffet is the Toasted Cheese, Steak, Bacon and Avo. It features grilled rump steak, crispy back bacon, avo*, mozzarella, red onion, fresh tomato & gherkins for *R89.90. If you are being super health conscious or have a gluten intolerance, order your sandwich on M&B’s low-carb gluten free bread at an extra *R20.
Got a little more time on your hands and a hankering for something spicy? Try out Mugg & Bean’s new noodle bowls. There are two options to choose from:
The Crispy Sesame Chicken – sesame-crusted buttermilk fried chicken strips, rainbow slaw, fresh coriander and egg noodles in a spiced coconut, ginger, garlic and lemon broth for *R59.90. Or, the vegetarian Tangled Thai Vegetable bowl – charred baby marrow, carrot ribbons, red cabbage, corn, red onion, fresh coriander and egg noodles, tossed with freshly made peanut butter, spiced coconut, ginger and lemon broth for *R54.90.

As we mentioned before, Mugg & Bean is the perfect place to settle down for a hot cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate with friends. Of course, their divine selection of cakes, tarts and muffins also goes down a treat. As we welcome winter, M&B have expanded their drinks menu to include vegan-friendly options. If you couldn’t be bothered by the cold, opt for their vegan Muggachino – a refreshingly blended dairy-free coffee iced frappé. Otherwise, try out the new vegan hot chocolate which is made with texturised soy milk.
Looking to indulge? Order the S’mores Hot Chocolate (*R29.90) at any Mugg & Bean On The Move counter. This warming treat consists of a chewy marshmallow and chocolate S’more, dunked in steaming hot milk. However, if you are a stickler for old favourites, fear not. Mugg & Bean’s roastery menu featuring premium blend medium and dark roasts is still available. We recommend the Caffe Creme – two shots of espresso with hot water served with pouring cream. Yum!
Lastly, for all you sweet tooth’s, Mugg & Bean have a special treat. Introducing the Loaf cake slice – a thickly sliced butter cake which is available in Nutella, apple crumble, lemon and blueberry, or chocolate banana and bran flavours. Your order comes with two slices of freshly baked loaf cake, served with butter for only *R34.90.
