With chilly winter nights upon us, laughter is the perfect remedy to warm you up from the inside out! And this winter, the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace brings the heat this July with the best comedy around. A power-packed line-up of hilarity awaits with their annual Jokers In July comedy series, bringing you a back-to-back comedy marathon from 30 June to 30 July 2023.

The Combo Comedy Show

Date: 30 June 2023

Comedic sensation, Sifiso Nene, brings you the best comedy combination to warm you up this winter. The Combo Comedy Show is set to get South Africans to share a few good laughs. The all-star cast features performances from local great comedians including Salesman, MakaThangithini, Stopnonsons and Churchboy. “We need to laugh and enjoy ourselves. We live in times when we are sad and unsure of anything, so if there’s a chance to be happy then we should make sure we go out there and enjoy ourselves,” shares Nene.

The People of Colour-Ed Comedy

Date: 01 July 2023

The People of Colour-Ed is a community meeting between family and friends, and features hilarious stories from communities like Eldorado Park, Westbury, Wentworth, Newlands East and the Cape Flats featuring some of South Africa’s funniest coloured comedians from across SA. The show features Carvin H Goldstone, award-winning comedian from Durban; Dillan Oliphant, the unofficial Manchester United mascot and award-winning content creator; Richelieu Beaunoir, the undisputed Comedy Central Roast champion; the larger-than-life Jason Goliath and hailing from Cape Town, Keenan Cerff finishes off the line-up for a night of big laughs.

The ZuMo Tour

The show promises to be a laugh a minute interactive comedy show, where the audience determines what happens next in a hilarious fashion, and will leave you feeling empowered and motivated. Her tactful comedy and witty responses to everyday life is what brings many audiences together.

Unfit & Forty With Alfred Adriaan

South African stand-up comedian and social media sensation, Alfred Adriaan, brings his popular brand of comedy to The Theatre of Marcellus. Following sold-out shows in 2022, Unfit & Forty is his hilarious new show, where he laments the trials and tribulations of a middle-aged married man, as he looks at his own ageing, married life, and his fear of being cancelled.

Keeping Up With The Xhosaz

Ndumiso Lindi brings together some of South Africa’s funniest Xhosa comedians in Keeping Up With The Xhosaz. The star-studded line-up includes hilarious Khanyiso Kenqa; dynamic trailblazer, TD Jokes; representing East London with his rapid fire punchlines, Prins; double Comics Choice Award winner, a Zulu lady with Xhosa in-laws, Nonto R and last but not least, connoisseur of comedy, Tats Nkonzo.
