Lostland, Rivonia

If you’re looking for both a physical and intellectual challenge, Lostland in Rivonia has the game just for you. Offered to teams of between two and six people, each game of 60 minutes is designed for people of all ages.

In ‘Prison Break’, participants must escape a dark prison after being framed for crimes they did not commit. In ‘Mission Impossible’, players get one hour to infiltrate the enemy’s lair to rescue their teammates – and escape successfully.

In the ‘Castle Secret’ room option, you’ll enter a haunted, abandoned castle, complete with the distant sounds of music and crying, and the memory of a long-gone lord pulpable in the room.

The Great Escape, Pineslopes

For a birthday, or even bachelor or bachelorette party, why not try award-winning The Great Escape, based in Pineslopes? With various different games on offer, players are challenged to solve puzzles in teams of two to six players. Uncover hidden clues to complete your mission and escape the room in under 60 minutes. Having recently won Adventure Experience of the Year, 2021 at the South Africa Prestige Awards, this experience is well worth checking out.

In ‘Trapped’, players are welcomed by a butler at the home of wealthy gold trader, only to have a fire break out. Find your way out before being trapped in the flames inside!

In ‘Asylum Escape’, players must investigate the dodgy dealings of Dr Mulasy Tretour, while eluding traps and the threat of an experiment gone wrong.

‘The Basement’ – reserved for over 18s – is a tricky escape room offering players the chance to escape the clutches of a psychopath. Complete with chains and scary noises, this escape room is not for the faint hearted!

Hashtag Escape, Bedford Centre

At Hashtag Escape in Norwood, you and your team of friends are locked in a mysterious room, with one hour to discover hidden secrets in order to escape. Crafted by a team of South African puzzle masters, Hashtag Escape offers a unique experience for teams of two to seven people.

With three rooms on offer, there’s something for everyone.

In ‘The Rebel Room’, for between three and seven players, your team must complete a mission while escaping the rebels

In immersive and advance ‘Closure’, players must solve a decades-old mystery in an abandoned house ripe with paranormal activity.

‘Hack Out’ requires players to break out of separate cells in a maximum-security detention facility.

In ‘Red Moon’, players are assigned personas of Wizard, Sorcerer, Alchemist and Blacksmith, and are tasked with stopping the evil Valacor before the Red Moon awakens him.
