Sure, it’s not as big of a deal here as it is in America, but Joburg still has a few fun and creepy events lined up to celebrate the spookiest day of the year. Rosebank Sunday Market

  • Date: Rosebank Sunday Market is open every weekend from 09:00 to 16:00. They also host a Car Boot Sale on the third and last Sunday of the month.
  • Venue: 50 Bath Avenue, Rosebank, Johannesburg.

This Halloween, Rosebank Sunday Market will be celebrating both Halloween and Dia de los Muertos on Sunday, 01 November 2020. So be sure to join them for a day of fun and entertainment. Dress up in your scariest costume and bring your kids with their pumpkin buckets to Trick ’n Treat at the market. They'll be hosting a Halloween flavour, JERUSALEMA global dance sensation exhibition at noon with The Rainbow Line Dancers. There will be prizes for the best dressed Halloween/Cinco de Mayo visitors on the day.

The Dark Comic Halloween Fest

No need to stay home this Halloween! Although we're in the middle of a pandemic, doesn't mean we cannot celebrate (safely). This year, The Dark Comic will be hosting their very first Halloween Fest. Expect a dress-up competition, some tasty locally baked treats, plenty of games, as well as some trick or treating. And to ensure that you're inspired and ready for this spooky time of the year, they'll also be sharing costume ideas, make-up and dress-up kits leading up to the event.

Halloween 2020 at Loftus Park

  • Date: Saturday, 31 October 2020 from 13:00 to 23:00
  • Venue: Loftus Park Centre, 416 Kirkness St, Arcadia, Pretoria.
  • Cost: Tickets cost R250 per person on Plankton. Tickets are extremely limited (500 pax)

Pretoria’s annual Halloween jol is back for its 2020 edition! Save the date and get your tickets ASAP, because this year, they’re getting ultra spooky! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the safety regulations and protocols, capacity id extremely limited, so be sure to get your tickets ASAP before tickets run out. No under 18 ghosties are allowed and this year's theme is come as you aren’t. The lineup includes performances by Van Pletzen, PHFAT, Desmond and the Tutus, December Streets, Ruff Majik and The Klubs. Screening ill take place upon entry and don't forget your mask! NO MASK NO ENTRY.

The Haunted Forest® 2020 - Zombie Land

This year, the ever-popular and loved Haunted Forest by Picnics in the Park have to do things a bit differently. Do keep in mind that there are limitations on capacity, 500 guests ONLY. But for the 2020 edition, they'll be delivering a more intimate festival. The main field will host a big screen and most scenes with more games and entertainment, while the forest will house the scary Zombie Land (instead of the Haunted House). Be sure to dress the part (AKA as scary as possible) and enjoy a fun day out with the family at this spooky celebration.

Alternatribe's Rebel Market

  • Cost: FREE entry

Support local artists and makers at the first Alternatribe Rebel Market! Although it's not Halloween themed, it's definitely a great way to spend your Halloween afternoon. Expect to see, shop, savour and enjoy the some epic alternative inspired artisanal alcohol, bites, brands and products! All the goodies sold at this market falls under the 'alternative' category ranging from goth, punk and fantasy to geeky, delicious or just plain weird! Please do ensure that you keep with the safety rules and regulations (wear a mask and carry hand sanitiser with you).

Howl'ween Market

  • Date: Saturday, 31 October 2020 from 12:00 to 17:00
  • Venue: 229 Northumberland Avenue, Northriding, Randburg, Johannesburg
  • Cost: FREE entry

The community deserves to enjoy a little bit of spooky fun and what better why to do that than by visiting the Randburg SPCA's Howl'ween Market! There will be cauldrons full of fun for all ages, all in aid of the fight to protect animal rights. Stroll through a variety of market stalls filled with delicious food to spooky gifts and goodies to take home with you. Of course, Halloween is all about dressing up, so come dressed as spooky as you can and join the fun costume competition. Safe, off-road parking with be provided and all COVID-19 protocols and social distancing is a must, so remember those masks. This will be the first time the Randburg SPCA has been able to raise funds with a public event since before lockdown commenced, and all support and donations will be appreciated.

Halloween Walk

  • Date: Saturday, 31 October 2020 from 19:00 to 21:00
  • Venue: Van Tonder Road, Edenvale, Johannesburg
  • Cost: R40 entry

Looking for some creepy fun for you and your family? Then be sure to join in on the eerie Halloween Walk through the sanctuary at Brainy Birds Parrot Rescue. This is a fundraiser event to save the sanctuary and is sure to be loads of fun for both young and old. There's a free goodie bag for the first 100 children to arrive at the event. There'll also be plenty of refreshments for sale on the night, including boerewors rolls, roti, samoosas, cakes, biscuits and more.


LeSi Evening of Trick & Treat

  • Date: Friday, 30 October 2020 and Saturday, 31 October 2020 from 17:00 to 19:30
  • Venue: LeSi Restaurant, Casa Toscana Lodge, 05 Darlington Road, Lynnwood Manor, Pretoria.

How about a romantic dinner for two with a spooky twist? Join LeSi Restaurant in Pretoria for a lovely three-course a la carte dinner in the perfect social-distancing-friendly setting, making this a date night experience you'll never forget. Booking is essential.

Halloween Pub Hopping Party Tour

This one is for the grownups! This Halloween, why not join a fun and safe way to explore the city, spooky style! Get all dressed up in your most ghoulish costume and do a six drink challenge at six different establishments in Joburg with the Halloween Pub Hopping Party Tour. This tour includes exciting adventures, historical stops, and loads of fun. A few highlights include a tour of Ponte's Tower, drinks and snacks on the 51st Floor; visiting the oldest bar in Joburg; Halfway House pizzas; Saigon Suzy Karaoke Roulette and more.

It's time to party up a storm at Truth Select's Halloween Ball Matinee 2020! This awesome party opens the doors to the supernatural world of spirits, ghouls and monsters for one night only. But do keep in mind that there is a capacity limit due to rules and regulations around COVID-19. Expect deranged, frightening horror and prepare to dance like the undead. There's no dress code, but it's Halloween after all, so why not dress up in your creepiest outfit? The live music lineup includes Jon S & Brad S, Avi Subban, Kyle Watson, Vimo, Chunda Munki and Kyle Cassim.

Join Rumours Lounge Strydom Park for a horror-filled Hallows Eve! They'll have some of Gauteng's sickest bands performing on the night, along with spooky stalls, a crazy costume competition and tons of games and prizes! Be sure to dress deadly and join them for a jol! As for the lineup, you can catch Capgras Delusion, Raptorbaby, Sunken State, Deadline and Facing The Gallows.

'Trick or Tequila' Halloween Party

Get ready to scare, dare, wine, dine, and dance the night away at Chicago's Piano Bar's Trick or Tequila Halloween Party!
