What Is It?
The Market Theatre’s Contintental Season kicks off with Frontieres this month. Frontieres is a personal testimony of African migrants who have fled their native countries in hope of a better, more prosperous future. Performed with a unique ‘authenticity of voice’, the actors re-tell personal testimonies. These testimonies have been collected by writer and mentor director Bobby Rodwell. Testimonies from migrants from Zimbabwe, the DRC, Cameroon and Somalia provide a Pan African perspective on migration.
Ultimately, Frontieres asks: What impact does migration have on young people’s lives? And, how are they received in South Africa?
Directed by first time theatre director Mmabatho Montsho, mentored by Bobby Rodwell.
