What Is It?
Can you believe it’s been 25 years since the premiere of Spielberg’s masterpiece “Schindler’s List”? Join the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre in Forest Town for a free screening of this iconic film. If you haven’t gotten round to watching this Oscar award winning flick, here’s the premise:
Businessman Oskar Schindler arrives in Krakow in 1939, ready to make his fortune from World War II. After joining the Nazi party, primarily for political expediency, he staffs his factory with Jewish workers for similarly pragmatic reasons. When the SS begins killing Jews in the Krakow ghetto, Schindler arranges to have his workers protected to keep his factory in operation, but soon realises that in so doing, he is also saving innocent lives.
