What Can I Expect From The SANBS Blood Drive?

Each unit can save a minimum of three lives by providing red blood cells, plasma, and platelets. The entire donation process takes just 30 minutes, and you can donate every eight weeks. Less than 1% of South Africans are active blood donors, highlighting the urgent need for regular contributions. The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) ensures a safe donation process with measures in place to protect both donors and recipients.

Donors undergo a questionnaire and a one-on-one interview to assess eligibility. Blood pressure and iron levels are checked before donation. New, sterile needles are used for each donation, and the process is painless. After donating, rest for a few minutes, increase fluid intake, avoid strenuous activity, and refrain from smoking. Your 30 minutes can make a life-saving difference.
