Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund 5km Fun Walk

Nelson Mandela celebrated his birthday with children every year, both during and after his time as President of South Africa. The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, founded by Madiba, has kept this tradition alive. This year, the fund is hosting a fun walk to mark the Annual Children’s Celebration and to mark the 28th anniversary of the fund. Save the date for Saturday, 15 July 2023.

What Can I Expect From The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund 5km Fun Walk?

The walk will be a 5km trail starting at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, a key programme for the fund. The trail will take in some of Johannesburg’s most iconic landmarks, before finishing with celebrations at the Johannesburg Zoo. The event is open to all ages and abilities, and all proceeds will go to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.

The theme for this year’s event is, “Gone but not forgotten – Legacy in action.” This is in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Madiba’s passing. To register for the event, please visit the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund website. Adult tickets cost R100 per person while family tickets are sold for R350.
