The La Traviata Ballet returns to Johannesburg after five years! The classical choreography of the ballet are lead and executed by Cape Town-based choreographer, Veronica Paeper.
What can I expect to see at the La Traviata Ballet?
The Ballet was originally created in Cape Town and is loosely based on the 19th century story of the Lady of Camellias. In summary, the story tells of a woman who sacrifices everything for the man she loves. Moreover, the beautiful music has been adapted from Italian composer, Verdi’s opera, La Traviata. The music was then adapted for this ballet by composer and conductor, Allan Stephenson.
The ballet has been performed in the UK as well. Critics have described the performance as “graceful, passionate and an utterly compelling production.” So, what are you waiting for? Make it a date and add it to your social calendar.
The shows start on Friday 1 July and continue until Sunday 10 July. The shows happen at various times either at 18h30, 15h00 or 11h00. If you are interested in receiving more information on the programs please click here. The ballet is not recommended to children under 4 years of age. Ticket prices range from R200 to R475 per person.
