This local Non Profit Organisation, #Funkitimwalking, is hosting a First Thursday Night Walk in Soweto featuring key heritage stops in Naledi. The walk takes place on 4 August 2022. In case you were wondering, the aim of the NPO is to make it safe for women to walk any time of the day in any condition.
Each month there is a topic of focus for the walk and this month the spotlight is on women who played a role in the June 16 Uprising including other key icons of the time. Along the route, you’ll stop over at a local pub and have dinner at a local restaurant, (at a pop up market known as Soweto Republic).
Soweto Republic is not just a pop up market, it is also seen as a local economy. Their vision and plan is to resolve the key energy challenges being faced in Soweto. Other stops along the route include; a Teenage Outreach Centre, Culture Shop and Naledi High School. Tickets start from R250 per person. Book your tickets soon and explore the streets of Soweto!
