What Can I Expect From The Dinner for One at Roodepoort Theatre?

The production stars Justin Strydom as James the butler and Elma Potgieter as Miss Sophie, these shows have been a hit across South Africa, selling out multiple times. Dinner for One, also known as The 90th Birthday, achieved cult movie status in Germany after being filmed in Hamburg in 1963.

Set in an ancient British mansion, this hilarious slapstick comedy revolves around Miss Sophie’s 90th birthday celebration. In a twist, the butler, James, must impersonate the deceased guests and drink their toasts. The ensuing mishaps provide side-splitting amusement.

As an added treat, Elma and Justin will perform Sopper vir Een after the intermission. This South African adaptation, by Frans Swart, playfully mocks Dinner for One while retaining its core storyline. Frans promises delightful surprises that will leave the audience in stitches. Get ready for a memorable evening full of laughter and merriment!
