African Bird Fair 2023

The highly anticipated African Bird Fair is making a comeback on 22 July 2023! Join the event organisers for the grandest event in African birding. Get ready for an action-packed program featuring captivating speakers, exhibitors, and educational workshops on bird identification. The event takes place on Saturday, 22 July 2023.

What Can I Expect From The African Bird Fair 2023?

This year’s Bird Fair promises to be even more interactive, enjoyable, and fun, building upon the success of the previous three years’ events, which attracted over 3000 attendees from 30 countries across Africa and the world.

Presented by BirdLife South Africa in partnership with MSC Cruises, the event will offer both a virtual platform and an in-person experience at the Country Club Johannesburg – Woodmead. Please note that in-person capacity is limited, so be sure to register early to secure your spot.

Ticket options include:

1. Early Morning Guided Walks: R120 per person Date: 22 July 2023 Time: 07:30 – 08:30. Includes: Voucher for a hot drink (tea or coffee) and a filled croissant Partnered with Gauteng bird clubs.
2. Virtual Admission (via Zoom): R250 per person Date: 22 July 2023 Time: 09:00 – 18:00. Includes: Live streaming of the Programme Talks; link to be provided two days before the event
3. In Person General Admission: R250 per adult Date: 22 July 2023 Time: 09:00 – 19:0. Includes: Programme Talks (held in the Starling Room), Optic sponsored area and mini exhibition, book signings, and African Bird Fair Quiz Venue: The Country Club Johannesburg – Woodmead
4. Entry to Optic sponsored area ONLY: R50 per adult Date: 22 July 2023 Time: 09:00 – 19:00. Excludes programme talks but includes the mini exhibition, book signings, and Quiz Kids up to 12 years old enter free of charge

For non-members of The Country Club Johannesburg, please select from the following options. No other catering choices are available for non-members.

• Burger Bar: Burger and Chips Price: R145 per adult, R115 per child (up to 12 years) Vegetarian burger option available
• Soup Bar: Hot Vegetable soup and a roll Price: R80 per person

A cash bar will be available on-site. Remember to bring your purchase confirmation with you to the in-person event.
