Document

With Freedom Day coming up later this month, you’ll have more time to explore Gauteng! Go on an adventure with Gautrain, who offers their travellers the Freedom To Explore. There are many destinations you can visit over Freedom Day weekend, while commuting with Gautrain. Here’s a few places to explore.

Explore Gauteng & It’s Places Of Significance

This Freedom Month, take the Gautrain and explore all of the destinations of significance to commemorate the immeasurable sacrifices made to break South Africa away from the chains of unjust segregation. Celebrate your freedom to explore with Gautrain. There are plenty of unique places to visit, experience, and pay our respects.

Visit Soweto This Freedom Day

Take the Gautrain to The Zone @ Rosebank, where you’ll find the starting point of the City Sightseeing Red Bus tours. The mall is within walking distance from the Rosebank Station, making your journey even more convenient. This is where your tour through the city begins.

From the station, head to The Zone @ Rosebank, and book your guided tour to explore the vibrant and exciting Soweto. You’ll be guided by a local resident, who knows Soweto back to front, while experience this historic part of town via a famous mini bus taxi. One point of interest along the way is the popular Vilakazi Street, once home to two Nobel Prize winners.

Here are more historical sites to visit when you’re in Soweto.

A New Constitution: Constitution Hill

Another place of significance during Freedom Month is Constitution Hill. Located in Braamfontein, this is a must-see location. It is where the new constitution came into effect in 1994.

To get there, all you need to do is hop onto a Gautrain heading to the Park Station in Braamfontein. Again, this destination is within walking distance from the station, or a short 5 minute drive.
