France Is Open For Travel For Vaccinated Passengers!

So, whether you are in search of a dream holiday destination or perhaps your work life takes you there, France is open for travel for fully vaccinated tourists! The French Government has eased travel restrictions to France and it is now possible for fully vaccinated travellers from South Africa to enter France with no test and quarantine restrictions. This means that fully vaccinated adult travellers do not need a compelling reason to travel to France or conduct a PCR test upon departure and arrival nor do they need to quarantine once arriving in France. Nevertheless, adults and children aged 12 and over who are not fully vaccinated must present a negative PCR test taken less than 72 hours before departure or a negative antigen test taken less than 48 hours before departure to France and show a compelling reason to enter France and abide by a 10-day quarantine.

Let's Go On Holiday To France, Shall We?

Let's face it, we all need a good long holiday after the past year and a half. Maybe a stroll down the Mediterranean coast of southeastern France, or a longer-than-usual brunch along the 7th arrondissement in Paris. Either way, a healthy dose of France is on the cards, and with Air France as your air partner, you can be spending a snowy Christmas with family and friends this year.

Africa’s Highest Urban Bar, Alto234, Opens At The Leonardo

Introducing Alto234!

As leaders in hospitality, we are on a constant quest to find great lifestyle and entertainment spaces. The rooftop of the tallest building in South Africa is so exceptional that it had to be shared with all,” says Robert Hodson, COO of Legacy Hotels & Resorts.

In celebration of its opening, Moët & Chandon gifted Alto234 with a special edition package. Delivered up to the 57th floor in grand champagne style via helicopter, Joburg tongues have been wagging about what could be inside the box.

Revealed on social media, the package was a limited edition Moët Mini Machine, which will offer guests the opportunity to experience French savoir-faire at its finest. Using Moët & Chandon tokens, guests can order Moët Mini 200ml bottles with golden sippers, right out of the machine at the perfect temperature. Without doubt, it’s the most innovative champagne service in Africa, and exclusive to Alto234.

There’s something dazzling about the combination of perfectly chilled champagne and panoramic city views stretching to the horizon. So, the partnership between Alto234 and Moët & Chandon was a natural one – after all, could there be a more perfect match than Africa’s highest bar and the world’s most loved champagne?” says Patrick Leslie, Portfolio Manager at RGBC.

What To Expect

Offering a variety of experiences, Alto234 will provide guests and tourists an opportunity to capture the amazing sights of Johannesburg – west to the Magaliesberg mountain range, north to the Voortrekker Monument, south to the once home of Nelson Mandela, and east to the planes taking off at OR Tambo International Airport.

This amazing space can accommodate up to 100 people across seven seating areas, each with its own unique views of our beautiful and beloved city below.

The bar and food offering will be catered by the award-winning AURUM Restaurant and what they have to offer is nothing short of sublime.

The wine list includes the best on offer from across the globe, as well as familiar favourites from the local Cape Winelands. Cocktails will be fun, refreshing, trendy and edgy with the right amount of sophistication. The luxury tapas menu will offer peckish guests with a bespoke range of snacks, many of which have been paired with the bar menu.

High. On. Life.

SculptX 2021 Is Here

The Melrose Gallery is proud to introduce the 4th instalment of SculptX, the largest annual sculpture fair in South Africa. Over 90 artists are presenting more than 200 sculptures in Melrose Arch and Sandton City’s Diamond Walk between 3 September and 24 October 2021. These will be presented in several indoor and outdoor public spaces throughout the precincts, and many are hugely impressive.

SculptX 2021

The Melrose Gallery has taken a massive chance in agreeing to host SculptX 2021 considering that most of the art fairs and large exhibitions have been cancelled due to the pandemic. However, the gallery feels that these artists need their support at this point more than ever and felt that it was important for them, the arts sector and the public to see something positive during these challenging times.

Don't Miss The Hollard Daredevil Run Once-Off COVID-Edition

What Is It?

The Hollard Daredevil Run is going countrywide this year! This once-off COVID-edition national event will see participants from all over the country, supporting a great cause from the comfort of their own neighbourhoods, either by running alone, with a friend, or in a small group of five runners max.

Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer and is on the increase. According to global research, one in every six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Early diagnosis of prostate cancer can mean a 95% chance of being cured.

The Hollard Daredevil Run is an opportunity to dare the men in our lives to be brave, to participate in a run with a difference to make a difference, to challenge stereotypes about male cancers, to start conversations about understanding prostate and testicular cancer and to learn how to lower cancer risk and how to catch it early,” says Heidi Brauer, Chief Marketing Officer at Hollard.

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men aged between 15 – 39 and can affect men of all races. The survival rate of stage 1 testicular cancer can be as high as 100%, making early detection and prompt action vital.

We’re challenging South African men to confront male cancers head-on by showing that they’re not afraid to run in a Speedo, not afraid to talk about cancer and not afraid to get checked,” Brauer says.

This is part of our ongoing purpose of enabling a better future for more people. By ensuring that these cancers are caught early, we enable better futures not only for the men whose chances of survival are increased, but also their families and loved ones.

Interested runners can register online and will receive a couriered Daredevil pack which includes a branded purple Speedo, water bottle, purple mask, fundraising band, logistics for the day and important cancer awareness information.

So, whether you are from Bloemfontein or Bellville, Scottburgh or Soweto, Potch or Polokwane, man up and run cancer outta your hood!

It's A Fun Experience For You & Your Mates

Don't do it alone! Gather your mates and have a blast running for testicular cancer awareness. If there is one run you need to do, it's this one. There's something fun and exciting about running in public, almost bearing it all, stunning drivers in peak hour traffic, and getting away with it!

It's An Opportunity To Strut In A Speedo

When do you get the chance to strut your stuff in a purple Speedo? Chances are, you never have the opportunity to do so! So, why not grab this challenge by the... uh... 'horns' and wear that Speedo like your life depends on it! It's all in the name of spreading awareness and having fun.

Most Importantly, It's For A Great Cause

All proceeds from the Hollard Daredevil Run will be donated to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation to help fund cancer awareness programmes and testing across South Africa. Join the national run with a difference, that makes a difference.

When Is It?

Friday, 15 October 2021.

Where Is It?

Absolutely anywhere!

How Much Is It?

Entries cost R160 with all proceeds going to CANSA and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa.

Friends, family and neighbours can also sponsor runners and raise funds towards this important cause.

Follow Daredevil Run on Facebook for event updates and details and go to Webtickets to register. Entries close on 08 October 2021.
