Beauty & The Lockdown: Here’s What You Need To Know

It’s time to celebrate! After three long months of growing out our locks and doing at-home beauty treatments, we can finally go back to salons, barbers, hairdressers and even tattoo artists for some much needed spoils and pampering. However, there are new rules and regulations in place regarding the easing of restrictions and practices of these service providers. Here’s what you need to know.

The New Rules

These formal salons will need to adhere to the following rules in order to operate and ensure the safety of their staff and customers:

  • Provide a hand sanitising/washing station for customers before they enter the premises
  • Encourage contactless payment where possible
  • Disinfect common areas before and after use, including after serving each customer

  • Arrange and provide adequate PPE for employees
  • Masks must be worn at all times and the stylist must also wear a face shield/ visor that must be cleaned after serving each customer
  • Aprons and gloves should be changed after each client
  • Encourage pre-booking appointments to avoid long queues and waiting periods
  • Salons must only allow customers inside if the 1.5 metre distance can be maintained

  • Use a booking system for treatment appointments
