Established in 2006, Croc City has made a name for itself by entertaining children and adults with educational and exciting creature-filled experiences. Where else can you get up close and personal with a variety of reptiles and creepy crawlies such as baby crocodiles, snakes (for the brave) and tarantulas (for the even braver)?
What To Do?
At the venue, an informative DVD is shown in the waiting area and children (adults too!) get the opportunity afterwards to touch and hold reptiles — exhilarating while educational at the same time. Having a unique experience like this promotes an appreciation for nature and emphasises the importance of conservation.
Imagine the kids’ excitement at touching crocodile eggs, skins, different reptile skulls and baby crocodiles! There’s also a guided tour of the park, where they are shown small crocodiles and giant ones up to five metres long — imagine that!
What Else Is On Offer?
Croc City is all about family fun for kids and adults of all ages. Ever heard of the Croc City FlyOver? It’s the first Nile Crocodile Zip Line in Africa. ‘Fly’ five metres above ground and over the crocodiles, a must for adrenaline junkies. The zip line’s length is 150 metres and it’s divided into two cable sections and three platforms. During this thrilling ride, and if you haven’t got your eyes squeezed tightly shut, you’ll see three differently sized crocodile enclosures.
Where To Eat
All this excitement is bound to leave the kids ravenous. Lucky for them there’s a great pizza place on-site serving ‘wildy named’ pizzas like the Boomslang, the Monitor and the Mamba, fresh out of a wood-fired oven.
When To Go
Open seven days a week, including public holidays from 09:00 till 16:30. Every half an hour there’s a reptile interaction that includes the guided tour. Crocodile feeding is on weekends at 14:00 while the venomous snake show takes place on public holidays and Sundays at 11:00.
