It’s been two years since the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation last presented an in-person Heritage Weekend Programme. The tours are a perfect way to celebrate your heritage as well as an opportunity to learn more about Johannesburg has to offer. The tours take place between 24 and 25 September and locals are in for a treat!
What Can I Expect From The Heritage Weekend Programme?
Saturday’s tour starts off at the tallest building in Sandton, The Leonardo. Where you will get an awesome view of Johannesburg as well as a view of Magaliesberg. The Hotel is situated in Africa’s richest square mile. Thereafter, its off to Rockridge Road to see the work of renowned architect, Sir Herbert Baker. You’ll also make your way to Fordsburg for some History and amazing food from a host of different cultures. The Saturday tour ends at Wits Business School.
If you attend Sunday’s tour you’ll get to see iconic places of interest such as Orlando East in Soweto and the Northwards mansion. Before ending off at a gallery, Art @ The Rand Club. To see the details on the full tour please click here.
All tours will depart from Holy Family College. The rates for the tours will be discounted, it’s encouraged that you book online to avoid disappointment. These online tickets cost R100 per person. Don’t forget to wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and to wear sunscreen!
