Turbine At Fair

July 21, 2022 @ 8:00 am July 24, 2022 @ 5:00 pm

It’s the 10th edition of the Turbine Art Fair, happening between 21 July and 24 July 2022. The art initiative was founded in 2013 by The Forum Company.

What Can I Expect From The Turbine Art Fair?

Visitors to the fair can look forward to walkabouts with artists as week as educative talks with curators. Moreover, artists will be exploring themes of conventionality with a playful tone. The idea behind the fair was to bring exhibitors from the SADC region together and sell their work. The other goal was to create a space where art could be accessible and affordable to South African’s.

The Fair is aimed at small scale galleries, emerging artists and also collectors who are looking to grow the South African Contemporary Art market. This year, The Turbine Art Fair takes place at one of Jozi’s newest hotspots, Oxford Parks, a stone’s throw away from the art hub of the city, that is Rosebank.

General access for entrants is R150 per day. Students will pay R80 to enter the fair. For VIP First Access on July 21 day the ticket (includes coffee and cake) costs R500.

“Through our special projects we showcase the work of emerging artists at the start of their careers, giving them a much-needed launch pad. We feel that it is vital to keep the art ecosystem engaged during this time and keep the conversations ongoing. This can occur through our planned virtual talks and walkabout programme, we are able to so.” – Fair Founder, Glynis Hyslop.
