Established in 2015, the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival is the largest independent comedy festival in Africa. The Johannesburg International Comedy Festival is back and ready to provide locals with tons of laughs and entertainment between Friday, 31 March and Sunday, 2 April 2023.
Be prepared to laugh out loud! Attendees can expect world-class comedy experiences as the comedy festival showcases the hottest local and international acts. JICF returns this year with a new edition featuring over 20 comedians, over 3 days in 7 shows at Emperors Palace.
Some of the local comedians that you can look forward to supporting include; Yasseen Barnes, from The Mother City, Carvin Goldstone who hails from Durban as well as Emo Majojik all the way from Australia! Tats Nkozo will also be doing a solo show act at The Red Roman Shed at Emperors Palace.
In summary here is a taste of whatyou can expect from the comedy festival programme. Friday starts with three ComedyCon Podcast sessions that is hosted by none other than Donovan Goliath. Followed by a spectacular comedy feast, Mzansi’s Finest hosted by Mashabela. The podcast will feature top vernacular language comics in South Africa. This will be followed by a not to be missed solo show by Khanyisa Bunu. Saturday has its own three ComedyCon Podcast sessions, an English Gala presented by a trailblazing local ensemble entitled HomeGrown and Hilarious.
But that’s not all! Sunday will see more local talent take to the stage for an unforgettable show to round off this year’s festival.
