Night Drills are back! Come and watch professional and volunteer firefighters tackling the intense heat and flames at Joburg’s hottest family outing! Save the date for Friday, 2 February 2024.

What Can I Expect From The FTC Modderfontein Night Drill?

This month they have invited a few other services to join them.

The gates for the event open at 15:30. The main burn is estimated to take place at 19:45. Food will be available for purchase, and there will be a cash bar. Additionally, card facilities will be available on site. Safe parking will be provided.

Fire engine rides are offered at a cost of R20 per person. Wristbands for the rides can be purchased at The BOX, which is the red container, on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that rides are limited due to safety concerns and will end at sunset. Ticket sales for the rides contribute to maintaining and refurbishing the engines.

Some important notes to remember: Camp chairs are encouraged for seating. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Scooters, bikes, and balls are not allowed. Classic fire engines are strictly off-limits. Cooler boxes, food, and drinks are not permitted on the property. While dogs are generally loved, this event is not dog-friendly; only working dogs are allowed.

To locate the event, search “FTC Modderfontein” on Google Maps. The venue is located at the old dynamite factory’s fire training ground on Ardeer Road, just after Pinelands Office Park.

A weather plan is in place, and updates will be posted on the day. Attendees should be prepared to get wet if it rains.

Lastly, it’s essential to heed the advice and instructions of security and safety officers, as firefighting is inherently dangerous.
