It’s been 48 years since that eventful and revolutionary uprising day of the students of Soweto, 16 June 1976. The societal landscape of Soweto has since then evolved into an adventurous kasi…a sight, a smell, a touch and a holistic experience worth exploring while walking through iKasilamakasi (affectionate name for Soweto). Join a 16km hike in Soweto on Sunday, 16 June 2024.
On the 16th June 2024, masses of people, local and international, from all walks of life will be commemorating this day of resilience, inspiration and dreams through different activities crossing from visits to historic sites, symbolic celebrations and activities.
Gear Yourself Up! and join Hiking Soweto as they continue to offer eXperiences of Soweto like Never Before…we are set to honour “Soweto Student Uprising” by hiking on a 16KM kasi trail which we have curated to indulge your adventurous personality via the NOW & THEN of SOWETO!

-16KM guided kasi hike
-Soweto 360 view
-Museum tour
-Kasi brunch
-Souvenir
All of the above is included in your hiking fee.
WHAT TO BRING
– Comfortable weather appropriate active wear
– Hiking shoes/sports shoes with a good grip (NO canvas/flat shoes)
– Backpack with your hiking essentials (water, snacks, sunscreen, hat/cap, sunglasses, etc)
– NB: feel free to add or subtract from the above list
– NB: Bring your adventurous self. Otherwise, Eish!
